When you think of Halloween music, you might think of a CD filled with sound effects of people screaming, creaking floors and mysterious sounds. Or, you may want something a little more musical to help you celebrate the spookiest day of the year. Here are 10 great Halloween and horror-themed songs along with some interesting video to go along with the tunes. Boo!

Marilyn Manson – This is Halloween – This is a spectacular combination of two very distinct artistic visions. The eerie sounds of Marilyn Manson’s ode to Halloween is meshed with scenes from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and the result is a fantastic montage of the weird, surreal and freaky.

Disney’s Halloween Treat + Nekromantix – Disney isn’t too keen on anyone tarnishing their wholesome family image, but this video, which combines clips from “Disney’s Halloween Treat” and “The Skeleton Dance” backed with the music of rockabilly horror-core band, Nekromantix, isn’t too far off the mark from what the minds at Disney would come up with if they were allowed to be dark and listen to goth music at work.

DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince – Nightmare on My Street  – Once upon a time, DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince came up with this silly ode to the horror franchise, Nightmare on Elm Street. It’s downright goofy, but some punk bands have used Will Smith’s silly version as a launching pad to create something more sinister. Check out the drummer in The Mighty Dashner; he’s got the Freddy voice down cold. And what’s up with the crazy bass player?

Rob Zombie – Dragula – Rob Zombie should have stuck with what he knows best: Music. Here is his video for the song, “Dragula,” which combines his love of drag racing and … vampires? Kind of weird and twisted, but not nearly as bad as the horror films Zombie has gone on to direct.

Michael Jackson – Thriller – It is perhaps the quintessential Halloween song. It is so popular in fact, 1,500 inmates at a prison in the Philippines re-enacted the classic music video – in their penitentiary yard. Odd, but true.

Misfits – Mommy Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight? – You can credit The Misfits for pretty much inventing the horror-punk genre. And with songs such as, “Mommy, Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight?” it’s no wonder why their fans went ballistic whenever they thrashed their manic brand of monster music.

The Groovie Ghoulies do The Monster Mash – This mashup of the classic “Monster Mash” song with clips from the Groovie Ghoulies is bound to bring back monsterific memories of werewolves, mummies and demons. This is too cool for school and a great ode to Halloweens of years past.

Ghostbusters (MGMT) – Now we know Ray Parker Jr.’s hit song “Ghostbusters” is kind of cheesy. That’s why it takes electro-hipsters, MGMT, to breathe some new life into the theme song from the movie of the same name. This is what the kids are into these days …

The Addams Family theme– This has to be one of the most recognizable horror songs ever. Plus it’s really catchy. Watch in amazement as some dude bangs this out on the harpsichord.

Then be fascinated with MC Hammer’s re-imagining of the Addams Family theme from several years back when the TV show made the leap to the big screen.

Tubular Bells – Used as the theme in “The Exorcist,” this song is downright creepy. But watching a rare performance of Mike Oldfield playing “Tubular Bells” live is enough to put anyone to sleep.
